Spells - Aeromancy


Aeromancers are generally capricious in nature. They deal with the winds and storms of the world channelling the energies that can bring destruction as easily as life, hence their dual nature.

They can often be found wandering the great heights of mountain trails, seeking oneness with their element. The ‘clean air’ as they call it calms them and great the Aeromancer Ritualists of old would build circles of power atop mountains and high plateau’s in order to be closer to the heavens and the high winds that power their magic.

Prior to the war, Aeromancers would often build tall towers in the cities as well as in the countryside to achieve the heights they sought to draw the purest power. Scholars of such things bemoaned this, saying that a mage does not require proximity to his chosen source, but Aeromancers ignored such practical advice, and still do.

No two Aeromancers are the same, “as different as the clouds” is a term sometimes used. Some have airy floating qualities that seem to drift through their lives like a tranquil summer’s breeze, whereas others are tempestuous like a winter storm quick to anger and violence. Then there are those more brooding awaiting the right time to unleash the fury of the skies.


Burst of Speed

The caster gains one innate of the skill dodge that must be used within 5 minutes or the power is lost but is in all other ways as dodge. You cannot have multiple castings of this spell active at the same time.


Gesture: Touch own chest


Verbal: “Let the wild WINDS I now BIND, grant me the power to DODGE at the speed of the hurricane”


Gust of Wind

Level: 1

Power cost: 1

Range :30ft

Duration : Instant


This causes one target to be knocked backwards 10 ft from the caster.


Gesture: Point at target


Verbal: “Let the WINDS of magic GUST and rage to REPEL you”


Skin of Winds

Level: 1

Power cost: 1

Range : Self

Duration : 10 seconds


Makes the Caster immune to normal projectiles (arrows, bolts, thrown weapons etc) for ten seconds.


Gesture: Touch own chest


Verbal: “Let WINDS whip around and DEFEND me from mundane MISSILES”


Thunder Clap

Level: 1

Power cost: 1

Range :30ft

Duration : 10 seconds


This spell causes 1 target to be confused thus they are unable to attack or cast spells for the duration but is otherwise free to move and act.


Gesture: Point at target


Verbal: “I call forth a CLAP of rolling THUNDER to DAZE you”


Whispering Winds

Level: 1

Power cost: 1

Range :Line of sight

Duration : Special


This takes a short sentence spoken out loud by the caster in the verbal and carries them to the target. The journey is of a variable length depending on many factors such as other winds carrying the words astray for a while (ref availability!)


Gesture: Custom Whisper into hand and blow towards target.


Verbal: “Let the whispering WINDS CARRY these WORDS... (speak short sentence) ...to whom I wish”


Cloak of Winds

Level: 2

Power cost: 2

Range :Touch

Duration : 10 seconds


For 10 seconds the Caster or targeted person is immune to normal damage and effects.


Gesture: Touch


Verbal: “Let a cloak of WINDS PROTECT me/this one from the bite of the mundane”


Shatter

Level: 2

Power cost: 2

Range :30ft

Duration : Instant


This destroys one normal inanimate object no larger than a door targeted by the Caster that isn’t immune to shatter.


Gesture: Point at target


Verbal: “Let the WINDS of magic SHATTER that”


Storm Blade

Level: 2

Power cost: 2

Range : Self

Duration : 10 Blows or 10 minutes whichever is less


This causes the Casters weapon to be encased in a cloud of storm and lightning via Air magic; For the next 10 blows any weapon held by the user at the time of casting does Magic Damage.


Gesture: Hold Weapon Aloft -


Verbal: “WINDS infuse this weapon with violent storm to HARM my Foes”


Storm Blast

Level: 2

Power cost: 2

Range :30ft

Duration : Instant


This causes a blast of storm energy to fly from the Casters Hand striking 1 target within range. Target takes 1 magic hit to a location of the Casters choice. Note this is a magical blast of lightning, wind and rain and can not be blocked with a shield, or avoided by diving behind cover.

Verbal: “Let the harsh WINDS of the raging gale BLAST your ______”


Tornado

Level: 2

Power cost: 2

Range :30ft

Duration : 10 seconds


This causes the target to be trapped in a tornado and spun around facing away from the caster. Try as they might they cannot face the caster for the duration of this spell as the winds yank them around. The high winds preclude speech and attack but not defence.

Verbal: “Let the Tornado WINDS of the maelstrom spin you like a top”


Embody Air Elemental

Level: 3

Power cost: 3

Range : Self

Duration : 8 hours or until all Armour points Removed by Damage


Target gains +1 armour points to each location for 8 hours. If cast on self gains +2 armour points.


Gesture: Custom Touch own head with both hands


Verbal: “Let the GREATER WINDS of magic whip up a hurricane and ARMOUR me with its power”


Shatter Storm

Level: 3

Power cost: 3

Range : Self

Duration : Instant


As per Shatter but affects all objects shatterable within 10ft of the caster. This does not affect anything the caster is carrying.


Gesture: Arms raised -


Verbal: “I call upon the GREATER powers of AIR, bring forth a tempest and SHATTER ALL around me”


Storm Bolt

Level: 3

Power cost: 3

Range :30ft

Duration : Instant


This causes a bolt of magical storm energy to fly from the Casters hand, striking one target within 20ft, in the location of the casters choice. The bolt deals 3 points of Elemental damage to the location ignoring armour.


Gesture: Point at target


Verbal: “Let the GREATER might of AIR, DESTROY your _____ Storm Bolt”


Weapon of Storm

Level: 3

Power cost: 3

Range : Self

Duration : 10 Blows or 10 minutes whichever is less


As per Storm Blade but the winds bound to the weapon also deals the Knockback affect per blow.


Gesture: Custom Gathering Motion


Verbal: “I call upon the GREATER powers of AIR grant me a WEAPON of STORM let it strike my foes with magic blows and hurl them away”


Whirlwind

Level: 3

Power cost: 3

Range : Self

Duration : 10 seconds


This causes all within a 10ft radius circle around the caster to be repelled 10ft away from the caster as per Gust of Wind and cannot go near the cast for 10 seconds. (also gains benefits of 'Skin of Winds' + vs magic Missile/Hand Thrown weapons


Gesture: Arms raised -


Verbal: “May the GREATER powers of air REPEL ALL around me AWHILE”
